§ 22-62. Municipal attorney as legal advisor.

  • The attorney for the city shall be the legal advisor of the board of trustees of the city. Such attorney shall appear on behalf of such board at its meetings and represent it in suits brought by or against said board. When the board determines that there is a conflict of interest or concern over the handling of any litigation wherein the city is named as a party, the board is authorized to retain additional legal counsel in its discretion. Such counsel expenses shall be paid from the funds of the police pension and retirement system. The board of trustees shall notify the state police pension and retirement board immediately upon involvement of the board of trustees in litigation of any nature, setting forth in detail the specific nature of involvement.
